Emerald nodded and walked in after her, ignoring all the people. He was feeling a little nervous as well, but he forced himself not to show it. “Okay, let’s go and get this over with,” he muttered.

With a small nod, Autumn moved to the left, and proceeded to walk down the aisle leaving a trail of flower petals behind her.

“Oh yeah, that’s what your name was… Okay, you go first then, Autumn.” Emerald stepped away from the door to let her pass. He wondered, not for the first time, why he had agreed to do this.

With one last glare, the young girl strode out into the main room. She glanced around nervously before looking back to Emerald, “A-are you coming?” She stuttered, her anger from earlier forgotten due to the sudden stage fright from the amount of people gathered.

Emerald looked at the girl and raised his eyebrows. “Thanks?” He took them, mumbling to himself before turning to the door. “You go in first, uh… Kid.” What was her name again? Oh well, it didn’t matter much to him.

Autumn folded her arms. With that action, a couple flowers fluttered out of the basket and slowly fell to the ground, “Kid?” She repeated indignantly, “Autumn has a name! And Autumn’s name is Autumn!” She had a glare on her face, one that slightly resembled her Daddy Prickle’s own grimace.

Chris stood in the hallway, staring at his phone. To call or not to call…? He hadn’t seen his girlfriend in a very long time, after all… sighing he slipped the phone back into his tuxedo pocket. After all, he needed to pay attention.

Yes, pay attention. Was he supposed to go soon or…

Not knowing for sure, he carefully peered around the door frame. A mistake; half the attendees, Green and Gold included, were staring with anticipation. He quickly pulled his head back, fixed his hair, and opened the door fully as if nothing had happened.

He nodded to Green once when he got to the end. “Good to see you…” he said awkwardly. After all, he barely knew Green. But no matter; now he glanced behind him, having no idea what was supposed to happen next.

Autumn knew it was time for her to walk up the isle with Emerald, but… Something stopped her.

“Here.” She held out a handful of flower petals to him, a shy smile on her face.

Emerald smiled to himself as he walked to Crystal’s house. She had called him and asked him to come over. Emerald, of course had said yes, as he was always happy to visit Crystal. As her house came into view, his smile grew wider.

When he noticed Autumn standing at the door however, he blinked. Who was she? Why was she at Crystal’s door? He pouted, marching up next to the girl. Emerald decided that he should ignore her until Crystal said something about her. Looking up at Crystal, he grinned again. “Hi Crystal, I’m here!”

Crystal wasn’t the least bit surprised that Autumn was the first to show up. She gave the small girl a warm smile and stepped aside to welcome the girl into her home. “Hello, Autumn,” she greeted, laughing softly. She still was puzzled as to why she referred to Crystal as her ‘aunt’, but she wasn’t about to question it. “I’m glad you made it here safely.”

One thing worried her, though—Green hadn’t thought to escort her? He had let the poor girl wander around on her own? Surely he had realized that was extremely dangerous, as Autumn didn’t even have the protection of Pokemon. Crystal would most certainly have to have a word with him when she saw him next. She was glad indeed that Autumn was safe, seeing as she had expected her to be accompanied by another guardian of sorts.

How irresponsible of him, she thought crossly, resting a hand lightly on her hip. She nibbled on the inside of her cheek, irritated, but looked up with a completely renewed and genuine smile when she heard Emerald’s voice. She always was happy to see him. They had known each other for a while, and she’d known him since he was a little boy—age-wise, anyway, since he still was rather small in physical terms.

“It’s nice to see you again, Emerald,” she laughed, giving his head a light pat and ruffling his golden hair. She glanced between the two. “Have you two met each other before…?” In all honesty, she had no idea if hey’d met. But judging by Emerald’s lack of interaction with Autumn, they probably hadn’t.

“At any rate,” she said, straightening her posture and looking over her shoulder into her house, “both of you can come on in. I don’t know if I’ve mentioned it or not, but you both will be staying here for the night. I, um, hope that’s all right.” She was a bit hesitant as she smiled down at the two. She was sure Autumn would be okay with it, but Emerald was an entirely different matter.

Autumn was surprised to see another person at Auntie Crystal’s house. She was slightly let down when he ignored her for Auntie Crystal, but she told herself that it was because he came to see Auntie Crystal— not Autumn. He would great her later, that was for certain in Autumn’s mind.

When Auntie Cyrstal said the boy’s name— Emerald, she smiled slightly and thought of her Daddy Prickles. His real name was Green after all, and the gem Emerald was a shade of green…

It was then Autumn noticed the gem on the boy’s forehead, and found herself staring at it. Not a single ill-intended thought ran through her mind, instead she was thinking of how beautiful the gem was. It took her a few moments to snap out of the spell it had placed on her, and the only reason the girl came out of it at all was because of Auntie Crystal’s question, “Have you two met each other before…?”

The girl quickly turned back to Auntie Crystal, with one last glance at the gem on the boy’s forehead before responding, “Nope! Never!” With that, she turned back to Emerald and held out her hand, “I’m Autumn! It’s nice to meet you!” She looked down from the gem into his eyes, which matched his name.

When she heard Auntie Crystal speak next, she tore her eyes away from the boy and looked towards the young woman. Her hand still outstretched, she smiled, “That’s fine! Right?” She looked back to Emerald, the cheerful smile still visible on her face… The depression of a few moments ago had been forgotten.

super-seriousgal:

“Well, everything should be set…”

After cleaning and rearranging her living room for hours on end, Crystal stood surveying the room, hands placed daintily on her hips. She wore a spotted apron over her normal clothing, just as she normally did when she cleaned. It wasn’t something she particularly enjoyed wearing, as it was fairly frilly, and contrasted to the character she had built for herself quite a bit, but she still felt the need to wear it when housekeeping.

Crystal admired her work worriedly. She wondered if her rearranging would suffice. She hadn’t done much to change the room, but she had set up her couch with pillows and blankets, and done so with the guest room beside her own. In all of her years of assisting Earl’s Pokemon Academy, she had never had a child enter her home. She never had wanted them to see what her mother was like for fear that they would come to dislike the idea of having a parent. In fact, she hadn’t been able to care for a child since those days.

But now, she would get the chance to take care of a child again. While those silly men were off having their little sleepover, Crystal would be busy taking care of Green’s daughter, Autumn. And, of course, she had been expecting a visit from Emerald, as well. She had been for a while, but for some reason she hadn’t been able to say no to Green when he asked her to watch Autumn. Perhaps it was her love for children that prevented her from disagreeing.

She wondered how the two would get along. Emerald was much older than Autumn, but he often did act like a child. Crystal knew he disliked socializing with anyone but her, so she hoped he would at least be nice to Autumn. The odds of that were slim, though if she told him to, she knew he would at least try. The least Crystal could do was hope.

She soon heard a light knock at the door and she turned, glancing at it. “Coming,” she called, untying the apron and tossing it onto a nearby chair. She put on a bright and most certainly welcoming smile before running to the door and swinging it open.

Autumn had been a little upset when Daddy Prickles told her he was going to have a sleepover with Daddy Hairbrush and a couple of his other ‘friends’ for multiple reasons.

The first reason was because it had been a long time since she had seen her Daddy Hairbrush, and this was yet another missed chance. With how much time had passed, she was starting to wonder if he was avoiding her…

The second reason was because Daddy Prickles had only referred to Daddy Hairbrush as a ‘friend’. Autumn liked Mister Ellipses, but she wasn’t sure how she felt about him becoming Daddy Ellipses.

She was glad her Daddy Prickles was happy, but… At the same time, she wanted the three of them— Daddy Prickles, Daddy Hairbrush, and Autumn herself— to be together as a family.

“But Autumn can’t even get that…” She sighed as she lifted her hand and knocked on the door of her Auntie Crystal. Daddy Prickles had told her to go to Daddy Hairbrush’s fiance’s place while he was gone, oblivious of her feelings.

When he asked, she put on a smile and simply said, “Okay!” Autumn didn’t want her Daddy Prickles to realize her troubled thoughts, so she would do whatever he asked… Because it made him happy.

The door swung open, and Autumn quickly put on the best smile she could manage and spoke in a chipper tone, “Hiya, Auntie Crystal!”
